We've Got Your Back

If you are like us, you are feeling a little queasy every time you pull your debit card out of your wallet to make a purchase.  It seems every day there are more media reports about data breaches- we have read about at least six different companies who may have had a breach and millions and millions of affected customers.  For those of you who shopped at Target in November and December, you know that Community Bank was very proactive in reaching out to our affected clients and cancelling those debit cards and issuing new cards to our customers.  And, as a result our customers saw NO losses.

We want you to feel confident in using your Community Bank debit card so we have a simple suggestion for you.  If you have had your card for a while and you are concerned that your debit card number might be vulnerable, feel free to stop in to either of our locations, and we will be happy to get you a new debit card, with a completely new number.  As you probably know, we issue the cards on the spot, so It will only take a few minutes.   We will cancel the old one and no fraudsters will be able to sneak into your account using the debit card that you probably used throughout the holidays when the data breaches were taking place.

We are happy to replace the cards at no cost to you.  By the way, we have a series of newly designed local images for our cards, so have fun picking out your new card with one of our personal bankers.

Remember these simple steps to protect your account:

  • Check your recent account activity regularly using our online banking tools: Lake Street Online or Lake Street Mobile
  • Set alerts in online banking to let you know when transactions occur
  • Contact us if you have any reason to suspect fraud
