Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest Donates to United Way of Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park
Oak Park, IL, July 12, 2007 − − − Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest recently presented the United Way of Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park with a $5,000 donation representing its sponsorship of the 2007 GALA July 4th Fireworks Celebration.
Community Bank was the lead sponsor of the GALA fireworks show for the eighth consecutive year. "Community Bank is delighted to be a part of GALA’s long tradition of presenting this spectacular fireworks show on the birthday of our country. It is truly a community event with thousands watching, many United Way and other local volunteers participating, and Community Bank financially assisting the United Way," said Martin J. Noll, president, Community Bank.
Volunteers "passed the hat" during the show to pay for the production costs of the fireworks show. Community Bank, in turn, makes a donation to the United Way of Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park based upon the amount of money collected. This year, the Bank contributed $5,000 to the United Way as a result of the collections. Michelle L. Hankes, Chief Professional Officer for the United Way of Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park accepted the contribution on behalf of the organization.
In addition to the GALA July 4th Fireworks, Community Bank has undertaken the sponsorship of many community-wide events over the last eleven years and has donated nearly $1 million to various local civic and charitable organizations.
